Trade negotiations between the world’s two largest economies, the USA and China, recently took a seriously negative turn. The U.S. raised tariffs on $200 billion worth of imported goods from China to 25% from 10%. Beijing responded with tariffs of up to 25% on $60 billion worth of U.S. goods.
According to Jost Oliver Zetzsche, "the first edition of the completed Mandarin Union Version Bible was received from the printer on April 22, 1919." We have just passed the 100th anniversary of the first printed edition of the Chinese Union Bible (the CUV). That Bible is the defining version of the Chinese church, and its impact cannot be overestimated.
