Books That Change Lives

Thanks to the generous giving of our supporters, during 2009 we were able to print 575,000 copies of Derek’s books for China. However, as 2010 began, we were not resting on our laurels but looking to reach many more of the 1.3 billion Chinese people with these excellent materials. We are again aiming for a target figure of 500,000 books but, if finances permit, we will be delighted to print more!

Already the first copies of 2010 have come off the printing press. And responses from our readers are also coming in. Sister Wang first contacted us through our Chinese language website (www.ygmweb.org) and was really excited to receive her first copies of Derek’s books. Now she is a keen distributer, passing on our materials to many people that she knows. Last month she shared with us two stories of how the Lord has used these books.

Sister Wang had been asking the Lord to bring people to her who were hungry for the truth. One Sunday, when she arrived for fellowship, she sat down and began reading a book while she waited for the meeting to start. A young girl sat down next to her and kept glancing at the book. Soon the two began chatting. The young girl shared how she felt so helpless and hopeless, and could not really understand what was being shared at the church. Sister Wang was able to encourage her, and it turned out that the girl had read Derek Prince’s ‘Blessing or Curse: You Can Choose’ and been helped by it. Soon the young girl opened her heart to Sister Wang and shared more about her life. Sister Wang continues to keep in touch with her and has passed on some books to help her.

Another lady that Sister Wang has been in contact with has set up a website about marriage and raising children. Sister Wang was able to give her copies of ‘God is a Matchmaker’ and ‘The Marriage Covenant’. After this lady had read the books, she shared about them on her website, writing: “The most touching thing about this book is that it’s not an academic or theoretical book, but about real life experiences of the author’s marriage. This really is a good book that can help readers to seek God’s will in their marriage.” Sister Wang saw how the books had helped the lady to see marriage in a brand new light.

Sister Wang then told us: “I can see that the messages in these books have influenced and changed people. They are effective in bringing about God’s will in an amazing way. May His will be fulfilled in these people and may His truth go deeper in their hearts.”

We give thanks to the Lord that the first copies of our newly translated book, ‘Declaring God’s Word’, are now being distributed inside China. This is a 365-day devotional book that was translated and prepared for printing during 2009. Then in January we were able to place our first orders with the printers. We have heard that there are few of this kind of book available in China, so we trust that it will receive a very positive reception and be a real blessing to the Chinese believers.

We are also in the process of preparing two more books for printing. ‘Power in the Name’ and ‘Secrets of a Prayer Warrior’ are currently being translated, and we hope they will be ready for printing by the end of October.

  • Praise God that we exceeded our 2009 printing target of 500,000 books and were able to print and distribute an extra 75,000 copies of Derek’s books to the believers in China.
     
  • Pray for the successful printing and delivery of the 500,000 books we are planning to produce during 2010. Please remember the ongoing need for finance to enable this to take place.
     
  • Give thanks for Sister Wang and for all those who help to distribute Derek’s books within China. Pray for the Lord’s protection and blessing upon them. May they have many divine appointments with those who are hungry to know more of the truth.
     
  • Praise God that Sister Wang was able to make contact with us through our Chinese language website. Pray that many more people would gain access to Derek’s materials through this means. And pray for wisdom for our co-workers who respond to the website requests.
     
  • Pray for the young girl mentioned above who was feeling so “helpless and hopeless”. May she grow in her faith and find comfort and strength in the Lord. Pray for Sister Wang to continue to be an encouragement and help to her.
     
  • Thank the Lord for the lady who praised Derek’s marriage books on her website. May many others find out about these materials through her website and thus be blessed and helped in their relationships.
     
  • Pray for the Lord’s Hand to be upon the first copies of ‘Declaring God’s Word’ that are currently being distributed in China. May they be a real blessing to many brothers and sisters.
     
  • Pray over the translation, editing and printing process of ‘Power in the Name’ and ‘Secrets of a Prayer Warrior’. Pray for the protection of all those involved in this process. May they sense the Lord’s presence with them at all times.
